Hannibal
Bank is recognized as one of the best places in the world
to catch black marlin and yellowfin tuna. Though available year around,
the Panamanian "dry season" which starts in December and runs
through April is considered the prime time to fish for this combination.
April and May are considered the best months for large yellowfin tuna.
November and December are the best months for lots of dorado. Blue marlin,
Pacific sailfish and dorado are also available year round. |
| The adjacent
group of islands comprised of the largest island Coiba and the smaller
group of islands of Parida, Ladrones, Secas, Contreras, Canales, Jicaron,
Jicarita and Montuosa offer tremendous habitat for fish and unmatched
inshore fishing action. |
After several years we
have settled on such a place. Located on the Pacific Coast of Panama and
adjacent to Costa Rica this area is known to international traveling anglers
as the Hannibal Bank/Coiba Island area. Hannibal Bank is a sea mount that
begins at a depth of over 6000 feet and rises to within less than 200
feet of the ocean's surface. Here when the conditions are right, the ocean
currents push schools of bait fish up on the pinnacle and the pelagic
game fish of the ocean come to feast. |
